date night

Eating takaway BBQ Meatlovers pizza from Eagleboys while watching sun set over Newtown terrace housing with my darling boyfriend - could there be anything more romantic? ;)

The base was nice - deep pan made it nice and doughy yet it had crispy edges anyway. I did find, however, that they skimped out on toppings :( Though the guy serving us was super friendly indeed. Well, pizza is pizza, and it is always tasty!

Traditional BBQ Meatlovers, $6.95 (I did not take this photo)

birthday boy turns fourteen

Honey melon mousse cake, $18

My brother dearest turned fourteen today and to celebrate, my sister and I bought him a honey melon mousse cake from Top Best Bakery in Burwood. It used to be better when the previous owners made this cake - the flavour was much stronger, whereas this one was bland in comparison. But nonetheless, still yum because isn't cake always?

my heart will go on

Just rewatched Titanic on my laptop. God, I love this movie. Though I am surprised I didn't bawl my eyes out like I did last time lol. Maybe I was super emotional last time BUT IT WAS SO SAD. I love that scene when Rose is getting lowered in the life boat but then she decided she can't live with Jack and jumps back onto the boat. That scene gets me so worked up every time. RANDOM RANT: JACK TOTALLY COULD'VE FIT ON THE WOODEN BOARD AT THE END AND SURVIVED.

I want to watch this in 3D but I doubt I can convince my boyfriend to watch it with me haha.

goodies in stratty

Got frozen yogurt at Noggi with my boyfriend - green tea and pomegranate with mochi and coconut yumm. My boyfriend has an unhealthy obsession with mochi, but I love the chewy glutinous topping too! I seem to get froyo a lot... Oh! And also got a Papparoti bun! They're so good, crispy on the outside with a wonderful coffee aroma and a nub of butter in the middle, what's not to love??

Papparoti bun, $2.50

Playtime with L.A.B.

Managed to get a snapshot of the very few high school friends that were there - so much love for these people

Went to Martin Place Bar today for my friends' joint 19th - had a blast (: A fun night with great company, lots of good food, and plenty of exxy cocktails!

Wish I had time to take photos of the canapes but alas I thought it'd be awkward taking photos as the waiters took the food around lol. But just a quick recap of what they had to offer:
Salmon pikelets, Pizza puffs, Spinach and cheese croquettes, Beef nachos, Coconut prawn skewers, Salt and pepper squid, Lamb meatballs, Wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce.
All were delicious, in particular the spinach and cheese croquettes! So good.

Had to go back for more mochi halfway through our family size tub because toppings ran out! And frozen yogurt is no fun without toppings.

Then a quick pit stop for green tea and watermelon frozen yogurt at Moochi (the line at Noggi was way to long) with lots and lots of mochi, blueberries, strawberries and almonds - the perfect end to a lovely night out.

easter chocolate

Peel, Bite, Spoon

Cadbury Egg 'n' Spoon, $3.50

I loved the concept of this new egg made by Cadbury of cracking open the chocolate egg to reveal milk mousse innards oh yes. As soon as I saw it hit the markets I was adamant on trying this at least once so it was with great joy that I managed to purchase these at the post-Easter chocolate clearance sales at Coles for half the price - bargain! It was definitely fun and enjoyable to eat, but as with lots of Cadbury chocolate, it was incredibly sweet. Great if you have a sweet tooth like me, yum.

delicious feast

Food, food, and more food! Our grand aunt is almost leaving to go back to China so it was only natural for my parents to cook a grand Asian feast for dinner! So much food for a mere 9 people... There were all sorts of delectable things including the massive $200 lobster they bought! Yummy food indeed. There is also a sponge cake which I made in the oven right now, which I ought to go check on. I will talk to you guys soon!

I went to see this movie with my boyfriend today and it was better than I expected and so freaking funny! The things that went on in this movie were so ridiculously stupid that I just had to laugh. I loved Channing Tatum in this movie - so different from the characters I'm used to seeing him play. We bought frozen yogurt from the new store Yogurberry in World Square after. Tried the mango, strawberry, and original yogurt with mochi (my boyfriend's current obsession) and choc chip cookies (: The colourful flavoured mochi pieces we got here are my favourite in comparison to Strathfield's Moochi and Noggi! Though the frozen yogurt isn't as good as theirs but still nice. I ought to get into the habit of taking photos now that I have a blog haha...

Hope everyone else's day off to celebrate Easter was just as good as mine!

my loves

Well I've owned these stunners for a while now and thought I ought to do a review on them (:

JEFFREY CAMPBELL MOTHERFKING LITAS!

When I bought these in black distressed leather I was just like fucking yes! I was looking at reviews online about the knockoffs but I couldn't bring myself to buy fakes because I'd rather spend more money and get a better quality product. What you pay for is what you get. They did hurt my wallet costing me $159.95 at Tuchuzy in Bondi when I could've bought them for around $150 on Solestruck because of the high AUD... BUT I was like, it's only $10 extra, wouldn't have to wait for shipping, the store assistant was super nice, so why not? Indeed, why not.

In terms of comfort? Oh. My. God. These are so amazingly comfortable. The high platform makes it feel like I'm only walking on a slight heel and I could go on forever in these. Shoe sizing is also perfect. I bought a size 6 and my foot size is 23.5cm. They fit great without feeling too constraining on my feet so I can even wear them with a pair of socks (: I'm going to have to be super careful when wearing these because I do not want the wooden heel to chip! The only thing I would complain about is the lacing - takes forever to put them on because you have to loosen it, and then tighten them to tie up the laces again. BUT it's a small price to pay because I wouldn't want a zip on the side - it'd detract from the look haha. I foresee wearing these very often because they do go with everything ;)

Supre cardigan and shirt dress, Jeffrey Campbell Litas
Photo taken after family outing for yum cha with my sister who I love to bits (: And yes I'm aware of the trashy rip in my stockings. To be honest, I thought they added to my outfit because everything else was relatively conservative lol.

Have a fantastic Easter weekend everybody! I plan on gorging on post-Easter chocolates that will go on sale ;)

the hunger games

I watched "The Hunger Games" in cinemas today! I know, it's been ages since it came out but I haven't had the time to... Oh Josh Hutcherson, you were the perfect Peeta indeed! And Jennifer Lawrence portrayed Katniss extremely well alsol. Very hard to fault casting.

Overall, it was almost exactly the same as the book. However there were two things that were significantly different from the book.

1. She did not get the mockingjay pin from some old lady

2. The pitbulls that were chasing them were supposed to be mutants of the dead tributes. For me, this ruined the tension quite a bit because it was meant to be much more grotesque, alarming and horrifying.

Oh and another thing, CINNA WAS AWESOME. And I love how they stuck exactly to the book and gave him just that little bit of gold eyeliner - PERFECTION.

After the movie finished, we quickly ate at the sushi train outside the cinemas (SO CHEAP, $3.30 per plate!) because I had less than an hour left until my painting class started.

Despite what others said, I did enjoy the movie. If the book were made into a movie, this was basically how I'd imagine it to be... So, yeah (:

Home Thai Restaurant, Haymarket

Since I finished work at 5pm, and my boyfriend had a group work meet up at 9pm, we decided last minute to hang out and waste some time before he had to venture off to UNSW. Le sigh, it is indeed hard to meet up with him during uni semester.  I wanted to eat at Home Thai because I love Thai food and I was very tempted by the desserts I saw online and lets face it, who can ever have enough dessert? ;) We strolled in before 6 and managed to nab one of the last tables. Granted, it was right next to the door which I didn't mind BUT the table was so small I was wondering how any dishes would fit on the table at all... But they did so it was alright (:

Moo Kum Wan, $11.90

My boyfriend was very keen to eat this after he saw the picture on the menu despite me telling him that beef tends to be quite chewy after they cook it at Thai restaurants and is often very, very, VERY spicy. Of course he doesn't listen to me and orders it anyway haha. This grilled marinated beef salad with shallot, coriander, mint, tomato, lemongrass, cucumber and chef’s dressing does taste quite good but is indeed quite spicy and the meat was chewy as I expected so wasn't too big of a fan. It was nice but I definitely did not want to fill my stomach up with this when I had ordered the other salad!

Pu Nim Yum Mamuang, $16.50

Now this baby was what I had decided I was going to order as soon as I lay my eyes on the menu! I was too excited and ate a piece of the soft-shelled crap as soon as it hit the table before I realised I was meant to take a photo... Whoops! The mango salad was a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and sour and I loved the prawns and cashews throughout the salad. I adore cashews.

Sticky Rice with Mango, $6.50

My god this was good. The rice had different flavours and from what I discerned, the purple was taro, the white was coconut, and the green pandan! All topped with a delicious coconut sauce. Did I mention that I love coconut? The sweet mango paired perfectly with the sticky rice. I order this a lot when I eat Thai. With the other dessert options at around the $5 mark, I was very tempted to order more but I was already full and did not want to burst at the seams. Gives me an excuse to go back next time! They are definitely cheaper than the dessert options at Chat Thai (I have also tried an extensive amount of their dessert menu).

We then proceeded to spend an aimless night wandering the city and purchasing 99c Kinder Bueno chocolates at Woolworths (I love that stuff even though I'm no longer a kid!) before going our separate ways for the night.
