DIY studded iPhone 5 case

Sorry I haven't been blogging as of late! I had a horrible weekend where our electricity completely died in our area. The worst part was not killing the power to my computer when I was working on my portfolio BUT the fact that absolutely NOTHING was recovered and THE FILES WERE ABSOLUTELY GONE DESPITE HAVING SAVED THEM. So I have been pulling allnighters for days on end until today which was the due date of my Communications portfolio worth 50%. All I can say is at least I managed to scrape it all together.

On a brighter note, I've hit 6000 views on my blog! I just want to thank each and every one of you readers or passer bys by taking the time to have a read :D I love you all!

So anyway, I've been wanting to create a DIY case for ages! I've loved the studded cases I've seen that have soared into popularity recently. However, the prices for these cases are not as friendly. Instead, I bought a matte white plastic case off of eBay which costed $1.00 and a pack of 100 8mm rivet studs for $1.25 so the total cost to make this costed less than two gold coins ;)

The original studs have rivets on all four edges. You're going to want to get these ones as opposed to the ones which have flat edges. If you get the flat edged studs, the glue with have to go on the edges and as you place them down on your case, the glue is going to ooze out from the edges and go everywhere so I'd definitely recommend using rivet studs.

Using a pair of tweezers, fold down the rivets into the middle so they look like the picture above. I used UHU All Purpose Adhesive because I have tonnes of it lying around (it's the glue I use to make my models) but I'm sure super glue will work okay. To make sure you glue your studs on straight, put double-sided tape on the back of an old card that you don't need and stick it to the case so that you can line up your studs as you glue them down. Once the bottom line of studs are glued on, you'll want to line the card up on the other edge and glue down the studs on that side as well so that it forms a right angle of studs. Then you can just fill in in between these two lines your remaining studs (:

And there you have it. A studded iPhone case! Super easy, super quick and super cheap ;)

If you try this, link me or send me some photos so I can see how yours turned out!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Ehehe I got a box of macarons on the box from Town Hall on the way home!

Back row left to right: peanut butter & jelly, tim tam, honeydew, red velvet, taro, coconut

My favourite ones were probably red velvet, coconut and pandan! I eat way too much sugar...

Yogohouse, Strathfield

Froyo date with the boy after my presentation worth 50% earlier today. Boy am I glad that's over.

Green apple, mango and raspberry frozen yogurt with mochi, muesli and coconut, $6.18 ($0.19/10g)
Yogohouse is yet another frozen yogurt store to join the crowded market in Strathfield. First there was Moochi, then Noggi followed soon after. Yogohouse joined just recently and now there is also a Yogurberry within ten metres of Yogohouse as well. Well, I'm not complaining - just more places to satisfy my froyo cravings!

Yogohouse is a self-serve store so you can give yourself as little or as much as you like. This huge cup was super cheap and only costed $6.20! Wasn't too much a fan of the mango, but I definitely enjoyed the green apple and raspberry! And I love awesome chewy mochi.

Worth checking out if you love froyo as much as the boy and I do!

Zumbaron Day 2012

It's that time of year again! Once called Macaron Day, it has now been given an update and is officially "Zumbaron Day".

Deep-fried macarons, $5.00 each
Left to right: pork pelly, hamburger, duck pancake, fried chicken, custard fritters, fried doughnut
Pork Belly: It was like a char siu bun! Except with a macaron that had a slice of char siu sandwiched in the middle.
Hamburger: This was surprisingly interesting with a piece of "meat" in the middle. I liked it!
Duck Pancake: Oh my god, this was awesome! It had a wrapping of pancake on the outside and there was actual duck meat inside! My sister said she saw ducks hanging up in the Zumbo store for these macarons that were made to order. It tasted exactly like a duck pancake, down to the hoisin sauce!
Fried Chicken: THE BATTER ON THE OUTSIDE WAS SO GOOD AND CRUNCHY. I didn't expect it to taste that great, but it really was!
Custard Fritters: Yum.
Fried Doughnut: Had a dollop of jam in the middle that made it like a deep-fried jam doughnut!

They've upped the anti with their packaging this year! These macarons were $2.50 each.

Left to right: 2 x toasted marshmallow, salted butter popcorn, rice pudding, pecan danish, pear pistachio & fennel, peanut caramel, palm sugar & coconut, olive oil & salted truffle, cola, choc marshmallow pop, carrot cake

Vanilla vavoom, $2.50
Very vanilla-y.

Choc marshmallow pop, $2.50
It's a macaron on a stick! Ah, so entertained by novelty objects.

Well these macarons are going to last me through the weekend so that I can survive the allnighters I'm going to have to pull to get my studio project finished by Monday when I have my presentation that is worth FIFTY PERCENT.

Time for a sugar high! Go ahead and Zumbaron your day :D

Happy weekend everyone xx

finally mine!

After dealing with a horrible relationship between this phone and I...

I finally upgraded to the new iPhone 5! Oh how I missed my first iPhone after it died on me and I've dreamed about the iPhone 5 ever since the disappointing launch of the 4S. So I finally treated myself to this prettyful. Isn't it beautiful?

I cannot wait to chuck away the other piece of s*&% and use this one! Especially the panorama function.

I cannot get over how gorgeous that white is. Haha, I'm swooning over a phone.

Happy Wednesday everybody!
